08.12.2008 / Big Brother’s favorite band?
Isn’t it interesting that in a day when so many complain that we are losing our rights and freedoms — scariest of all privacy — that those same folks are willing to be virtually “present” and found, and share their favorite color, music, fashion label, sexual preference, nickname, (ad infinitum) with a world of strangers, but not with BIG BROTHER.
Well, helloooooo…
If it’s out there for a sexually-undecided, cerulean-blue-loving, Dolce-and-Gabanna-wearing, The-Artist-listening, anorexic nicknamed Patte to see… then surely you must know what Barack Obama or John McCain (whichever wins) will be up late at night at the Presidential Residence doing. Yes, that’s right… sitting at Computer One, mouse moving, searching, scrolling — keeping an eye on Patte and you and me.
[ Actually I find the emerging field of "presence" both fascinating and important and will be writing more about it in a serious vein, soon. ]
05.11.2008 / Rotman: Leaving the MBA pack in the dust
While studying current business trends, I came across a brilliant resource out of U Toronto that shows me someone out there in academia not only “gets it” or glosses over it, but teaches it. They offer a free taste of their triannual publication (subscription price $105.)—Rotman: The Magazine of Rotman School of Management—that will give you a good flavor for the prescient relevance of the “Integrative Thinking” at the heart of their program: http://www.rotman.utoronto.ca
